Cs Amb. –

KHARTOUM. The 10 young Sudanese diplomats, selected for a two-weeks training in Italy on topics related to diplomacy and international relations, are already in Milan.
Financed by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation’s Directorate General for Global Affairs (DGMO), the training course “Advanced Programme for Sudanese Officials and Diplomats” is organized by the Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI) in Milan and provides a series of thematic modules on global issues, geopolitics, environment, European and Mediterranean policies, migratory themes and international trade.
A Roman stopover is also planned: at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), where the young diplomats will visit the Crisis Unit, and at the International Organizations of the Roman pole, such as FAO and WFP.
Lastly, cultural moments and visits for the discovery of the Italian’s art and culture will not be lacking.
The initiative is part of the framework of the bilateral political consultations between Italy and Sudan which, besides the strategic dialogue, aim at creating mutual opportunities in the areas of training, bilateral trade and cultural collaboration.
The Sudanese diplomats, before leaving, met the Italian Ambassador in Sudan, H.E. Mr. Fabrizio Lobasso, for a short framing on the project and the initiative.
“For the Sudanese colleagues”, Lobasso explains, “it is an important appointment. They had been waiting for months and the competition to join the group has been extremely high. They could not wait for ‘vivere all’Italiana’ (‘living the Italian life’) in the broadest meaning of the term, that is discovering the secrets of a great country like ours, such as being able to express Beauty through the ‘Italianness’, in all areas of life and international relations”.
