L’autore del saggio, edito da Fuoco Edizioni (2012), è lo storico e ambasciatore della Repubblica d’Armenia presso l’Italia Rouben Karapetian, già docente di storia presso l’Università di Erevan; nel 2003 ha fondato la Divisione Paesi Asiatici in seno all’Istituto di Studi Orientali dell’Accademia Nazionale delle Scienze. È autore del primo manuale universitario di storia araba in lingua armena.
Il tema trattato nel libro è di grande attualità, specialmente se posto in relazione con la crisi che oggi investe la Siria, e tratta dei rapporti del paese mediorientale con Israele e con i paesi arabi, oltre che dell’influenza che la questione palestinese ha avuto sulla storia recente del paese.
